At the office

Here's an example of the kind of stuff I do at the office. As an illustrator and designer for the Best Soda in the World.... OK I prefer the cherry version, but you know what I mean, I create logos, clean up PowerPoint files, Illustrate technical and occasionally fun stuff.

And I get to use my talent God blessed me with for local churches too! Now that is the really enjoyable stuff.

Artist Trading Cards

Here's what I've set up at my local Hobby Lobby. This flier is in an antiqued frame with one real ATC card glued to it that is a collage of old photos stamps that have been through the mail and a bottle top from a Cheerwine Soda. It give more depth to what was otherwise flat. It sits atop a glass case that has my sign up sheet and fliers like this one that are takeaways. It has a small corner of a very crowded case that has a variety of classes being offered.
Any input from you guys would be great.

on the drawing board

In between prepping for my upcoming classes I'll be teaching I've also been painting. Here's what's in progress at the moment:

The picture above is painted on reclaimed wood. Like our souls after becoming a believer, it is made new and beautiful.

This is what I hope to see in Tuscany.... if I ever get the chance to go! It's not done of course.

This is a cake plate I'm painting. I've fallen in love with those jade colored pieces of tableware, and since I can't get one at the moment, I'll paint it!

Remember this

I'm working on another piece of furniture with the same style of painting. It's a small cabinet I'll be taking to the plumb tree soon. And I just finished a fun piece that involves a bible verse. I'll post it soon.

A God Thing

I had a special surprise this weekend some would say coincidence. I say it's a God Thing. A phrase that a special friend uses a lot.
I was talking with my hubby and a long time friend who I've recently gotten in touch with again. After years of being busy with our own lives. She is guiding me in the process of art as a business. Ans she is also a very good bible teacher as a side note.
Anyways Saturday as we were talking she mentioned " you should get one of those movable wooden manikins to draw with". Well I agreed that would be handy.
Monday while working my husband called me and said you have a package from Florida. I said yes I thought I might get a lovely treat from my friend Sunnynole as a thank you for doing a little PhotoShop Work for her. He opened it and said "Wow, you'll really be able to use this." He told me that the package contained an artist drawing manikin, wooden. And that it came with art supplies. I was stunned. Sunnynole knew nothing of that conversation, My friend who mentioned getting one didn't know Sunnynole at all.
When I told my Godly friend she reminded me that before we even ask he knows our needs before we ask.
...for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Matthew 6:8b

Been Quiet

I've been very busy lately. What at you might ask. Well, I'm excited to anounce I'm going to take my first shot at teaching art classes at my local Hobby Lobby. Saturday I'll be at our store with a sign up sheet and my paints. All set up at a table in the lobby. My first class being offered is Drawing 1 for 10 to 12 year olds. I'll also have a sign up sheet to offering an Adult Artist Trading Card Class which will also involve swapping among class mates.
So what do you ladies think? All of this will be on the weekends.

Home

My ATC for the May CMP Exchange is finished. The theme for this past month was "Home". And just when I was thinking what in the world should I do. Just as all I could picture was Mary Engelbreit' style houses a show popped onto the tube. The HGTV special on Being RV Crazy. It was perfect! I've always dreamed of owning a little tear drop camper. Mine would have to have a portable picket fence and lots of red gingham. Do they make king size? The girls always sleep with Mommy and Daddy.
