A Moth, a Tray and Some Waves

This is a quick painting I did for my dad's birthday while watching one of my favorite movies, Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Next I tested a craft project I'll be teaching in a holiday gift making workshop.

Then I got scared to death by what was facing me when I swung open the back door to feed my dog. Turns out it's an Imperial Moth. A male who is smaller than his lady acoding to the web. I'm glad she wasn't on my door. We'd need a landing pad for her.

He was so big. See my 7 year olds hand next to him.

So my oldest did what she sees mommy do when she's excited by something she sees. She out it on paper :) I'm so proud!

Yikes! I've never seen a moth so big!!! Your tray project sounds like a lot of fun-- I bet you get a lot of people wanting to try that! And your watercolor-- HOW do you manage to just whip out such an awesome painting while watching a movie??!!! You need to do more watercolors!!!

That's a MOTH! The female must be incredible.

The painting for your dad is a treasure! He's going to love it!

Hurray for Older Daughter! I'd be proud too!
