I've Been Busy

A Wedding Gift
A Card for another friends wedding

CMP ATC for November
And lots of loving on the babies. I've even started to knit... well if you can call my little tangle of yarn that. But I'll get there. I'll post soon to prove it. These were created during my Thanksgiving holiday. It was nice just being at home with my girls not trekking downtown to the office. But back in the saddle am I. And off for another course building stretch..................

a turkey, a gift and a nap

Well, Thanksgiving was perfect. There was some minor family drama... but I'm not going to dwell on it. As a great singer once said"Don't Worry, Be Happy!" But I did miss those who decided to go another way for the holiday.

So about that bird. What an awesome meal we had. My aunt spent the night and cooked the bird. She also makes a killer stuffing and sweet potato casserole. I made my grandmothers special Sawdust Salad Recipe(Jello, pineapple, marshmallows, homemade custard with pineapple juice cooked in and topped with a fluffy layer of whip cream mixed with cream cheese. Yummmmmmm! There was so much good food, I'm resembling a tick today! Time for my Tony Little Gazelle. After all the guest left and I watched a little of the Ghost Hunters Marathon it was time to paint. You see Tomorrow I'm going to a friends wedding. They love to cook age old family recipes of great Italian Food. So above is what I came up with. I hope they like it.

I so wanted to go shopping today. Micheal's was going to have some great Black Friday coupons sales and other door busters. But the Sergent said no :( I know Dave Ramsey would agree.

Did I say I'm about to settle in for a long winters nap. Just me a my sweet girls and the Sergent. Enjoying the extra family time this 4 day weekend is treating us with.

God Bless You everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving
Heather

a Mud Mask, a Paint Brush and a hug

So Sunday night Roxy and I put on her favorite mud mask and settled in for a fun night of painting in our pj's. The bottom paining is how the ornaments looks to me and the top is how they look through Roxy's eyes. That's exactly what I love about art, it's really about

showing the world how you see things.

An ATC, a Taco Pillow and a Christmas painting

Here's what I did for the October ATC card for the Creative Mom ATC Exchange. See more of my ATCs and odds and ends at http://www.flickr.com/photos/43967826@N00/
The Theme was Tell Me A Story. What immediately popped in my head when Amy mentioned the theme was The Wolf from Red riding hood reading about a past adventure with some local pigs!
Over the weekend my 7 year old created her first pillow. She's thrilled and now wants to try knitting. She's a girl after my own heart. Her pillow looks just like a taco... I think I'm going to sew some fun things on top to bring it to it's full taco-ability.
We also made a quick trip to emergency care for my little one's ears. Turns out a she had two ear infections... one of which was pretty bad. She's starting to feel better now.
Last night as the weekend came to a close Roxy and I sat in the living room and painted on canvas board. We both did the Christmas balls. I'll post tomorrow.

Fiber art

This is a piece I haven't worked on in a year :(
I don't know if it's the fact that it's fall or what but I have a huge urge to get crafty in the fiber way. I have my new sketch book.... but I keep looking at my sewing machine longingly. I think I'm going to give in and take her for a spin this weekend. Maybe dolls made from outgrown clothing of my girls.
Material Mama has really been in the back of my mind kindling the fiber fire.

a tear, a transmission and a tree

Well.... what a day I had yesterday. It started with me saying "Sweetie, what do you think that little buzz I hear in the car is?" I smiled ans spattered"I wouldn't want to break down."

Well wouldn't you know about twenty miles from home Push as I might... she was not accelerating. And so I came to a slow stop in a church parking lot. Understand I'm not ungrateful. Quite the opposite. I mean I drive through some very rough areas, and to end up broke down in a church parking lot is fine by me. Eventually hubby got there, restarted it and on a wing a a prayer, and a very slow journey we got it to the dealership. Have I mentioned we paid this baby off a month ago! Yes, that's right a month ago.

So, it's the transmission. I'm in nifty little rental Impala with leather seats and silver rims. Quite a different world than the mini van. And was I stressed about the car? Heck I could care less. I was to busy flipping out over the fact that of all mornings I was suppose to be designing a holiday card for the CEO of all of Worka-Cola! Oh my goodness was I flipping out about that. but in the end with laptop Finlay in hand, I did get that out the door. It was just from a door in the burbs instead of midtown.

So after the dust settled we put up the Christmas tree. At least that settled the little remaining woes of the day. Who can't get peaceful when looking at the beautiful twinkle of an evergreen flocked with red balls and gold angels.

Here's to a better weekend than the week was!

Old Haunts and Birthday thoughts

I painted this water color when I was pregnant with my oldest. My hubby had this Barber Shop for quite a few years. Before his career change. A career change that brought about a much more fulfilling life for him.
So... 32.... Oh dear. Should I start going backwards now? I think I would feel better about this number if I'd had my roots colored before the big B-day. Oh well. Here's to the next thirty two years!

Happy Late Halloween

Hi all. i hope we all had a happy and safe holiday. We spent a fun night at our church. The festival they put on is wonderful and is a great resource for the church to reach out to the community.
well my Halloween started by placing my October CMP ATC in the mail. I need to snag the image from my camera and post it. Latter. And then...
I took the day off and had a great time at both of my girls schools, with an hour of helping the church setup in the middle of the day.
My oldest daughters teacher had me carve the class pumpkin. I also read a couple of stories the teacher selected. And we ended the night with a nice melt down compliments of too much sugar, up too late, and interruption to routine. Oh well. Still it was a fun day.
